In a unexpected collaboration that challenges traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden sect.

The mission focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Content

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an special katana alongside multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This update also brings the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
