The British player advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slams this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from the last two tournaments this season because of a health issue she has been fighting in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but opted to return home to recover prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Her movement was far from freely in the third set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions late this year.

The athlete revealed that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
