Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a former physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
