Jujutsu Kaisen: The Execution Film Strives to Address the Anime's Major Controversy

JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an brand-new movie. Instead, the latest film from the Jujutsu Kaisen supernatural series acts as a recap of the show's sophomore season stitched together with the first two episodes of its upcoming season, which begins the Culling Games arc from the original manga. This establishes Execution, which recently received a latest teaser, the earliest way to view the beginning of the next season ahead of its January 2026 premiere. The film debuts in Japanese theaters on November 7, and in North America on Dec. 5.

The Culling Games Plot

In the Culling Games plot, Top-tier jujutsu user Yuta Okkotsu finally joins the show and is tasked by sorcery authorities to execute his classmate Yuji Itadori. Their long-awaited clash unfolds for the very first time on the cinema screen, and if the animators at the production house have something as special as installments 40 and 41 waiting in the wings for viewers this end-of-year period, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may turn out to be the gift that we've been waiting for.

The Thunderclap Issue

"The Thunderclap sequence" from season 2 is widely regarded as a top-tier scene in anime history, despite the major issues in the previous year when the episodes first debuted. It was claimed that the artists were suffering from crunch conditions to the point, and the broadcast edition that premiered at the time was not fully polished and reportedly not what the team initially intended.

The Epic Battle

The scene showcases a heavily anticipated fight between two strong jujutsu users, Sukuna and Mahoraga. It boasts experimental animation, superb cinematography, and dynamic fight choreography. A later home video edition provided an opportunity to include extra footage to expand the conflict. So it seemed possible Execution could enhance the fight further. However, examining the recent teaser, it's unclear if that battle has been given extra attention. It'd be a disappointment if it hadn't, because a sequence that grand has to be seen on the cinema screen with the best presentation possible.

Season Two Success

The sophomore season of JuJutsu Kaisen boosted the show to become the top anime of the year, and when episodes 40 and 41 were released back to back, it was the topic of conversation for an extended period in the animation fandom. Fans knew about the problems with the production, which made them value what they witnessed even more. People eagerly awaited to see if the Blu-ray, launched in mid-March, would add any additional scenes to the fight or to see if it was improved in any way, and were elated to see just that, alongside color corrections, enhanced animation, and revised visual style.

The Movie's Opportunity

But the physical release can only improve what has initially broadcast in the broadcast edition, whereas the cinematic experience has the chance to properly present the moment with additional alterations and new animations entirely.

A Masterpiece

As it stands, these pair of installments represent the magnum opus of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be treated as such by the animation team, especially considering the issues they encountered at the time. It's garnered the attention of viewers all over the world, and the Culling Games is one of the most anticipated anime arcs of the coming year. If Mappa wants to begin the year strongly, revisit the show's top scene once again in cinemas with the best interpretation we've witnessed to date.
