The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
