Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
