The ex-lawyer for the former president has left her position as the chief federal prosecutor in the state. This follows a legal ruling that invalidated her right to hold the office.

Attorney General's Statement

The nation's top law enforcement official, the Attorney General, confirmed her stepping down on Monday. She commented that the appeals court finding made it unworkable for her to perform her duties.

"Let no one confuse compliance for surrender," she wrote. "My fight will now reach across the country."

The departure follows closely on a judicial panel determined that she had been acting without proper authority as the federal prosecutor. This ruling is expected to impact scores of legal proceedings in the Garden State.

The appellate judges declared that a interim role that did not receive the advice and consent of the Senate ran afoul of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.

Bondi said that she will remain at the DOJ as a top consultant. They intend to seek further review of the ruling, aiming for a different outcome.

On a social media platform, Bondi wrote that the judiciary "cannot be permitted to second-guess the executive's selection of prosecutors responsible for carrying out the primary duty of the administration of prosecuting crime."

Bondi commended her tenure and pointed out that under her leadership, the city of Newark saw a significant drop in crime. She also stated that the city of Camden experienced its initial homicide-free summer since 1974 with no murders.
